History:

Established in 1955 as a form of a service of the Municipal House of Commons Section that housed various birds and animals exposed in the past in other parks of the capital. Between 1955 and 1959 there was a progressive concentration of animals at the Baneasa Zoological Corner, where on 1 May 1959 the first visiting season was opened. Starting with 1962, the institution's title became the Bucharest Zoo. There is a plan to make the zoo bigger and modern in the neighbouring forest.

After paying the entrance fee we have a playground on the right. Behind it we find brown bears. To the right we then find maras as well as tigers and jaguars. The next area is for monkeys home to tamarins, ringtailed lemurs and capucins among others. Inside this house is a small night zoo. Out on the other side we have another playground. Going to the buildings we enter the aqua-terrarium. Outside again we find the lions enclosure. The next area is to relaxing and enjoy som classical music, here are some small aviaries. Next to it is a bear enclosure followed by one for wolves.To the right we then have some birds of prey, like the bald eagle. Across we find a long row of hoofstock enclosures home to animals from the african savannah, aoudad, llamas and camels. Heading back again to the wolves we meet on our way pheasants, parots and other birds. Keeping right e entered the carnivore area starting with raccons and bintourongs as well as the rodents calles prarie dogs. In front of the we have the snow leopard. Following the path to the right we have several aviaries for water fowl. At the tiger we then turn left to watch some lakes with more waterfowl, like flamingos and pelicans.
