Blackpool Zoo is a “must visit” destination in this popular resort. Mature parkland, lakes and superb enclosures provide homes to many exotic and endangered species from around the world. Lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, apes, penguins and many more family favourites can be found here all year round.Fish and flippers combine in the new “Active Oceans” arena which unites the fun and frolics of the sealions with the streamlined swimming of the penguins next door. Already boasting the largest sealion pool in the UK, the zoo has extended and refurbished the surround to allow visitors much closer access to these amazing animals and birds. Also new for 2010 at Blackpool Zoo is a walkthrough wallaby enclosure which, like the very popular “Lemur Wood” will allow the animals to get as close as they want to the visitors.
