In the petting zoo section, children can touch goats, geese and rabbits. "Vivarium" features reptiles such as turtles and crocodiles, as well amphibians and nocturnal mammals like sloths. "Koala House" breeds and exhibits a family of koalas under a computerized control system to maintain the climatic conditions of their natural habitat. At "Medaka (Killifish) World", a huge number of killifish species from around the globe are displayed. Inside the "Zoo Education Center", a red-brick building near the entrance, is a library and an installation of the food chain. The Center hosts exhibitions on animal anatomy, animal protection, and other zoological subjects. The botanical gardens have an extensive collection of about 7,000 plant species, some of which are planted in open-air while others are grown in the large greenhouses. The trails meandering through the natural forest will lead you to a Gassho-style house, a traditional architecture with a steep thatched roof, which was relocated here from Shirakawa-go, Gifu prefecture. Visitors can step inside and enjoy the feel of a traditional countryside home. Another tourist attraction within the garden boundaries is Higashiyama Sky Tower, which soars 214m above sea level and offers panoramic views of the entire city of Nagoya
