The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island is 68,000-square-feet of aquatic beauty. Home to alligators, sharks, river otters and lots of FISH, the aquarium is part of the North Carolina Aquarium group. Permanent exhibit galleries include Open Ocean, Marine Communities, Hurricanes and Northeasters, Coastal Freshwaters and Close Encounters. A special Shark Exhibit has been added to the 285,000-gallon Graveyard of the Atlantic exhibit. The exhibit includes an underwater "Shark Cage" for a neat photo opp for the family.
