It consists of an organic teaching garden with a pond, insect hotels and a Benjes hedge for lessons, but above all a school zoo with over 100 species of animals, which is divided into numerous subject areas: a colorful mixture of domestic animals of various races lives on the pastures. Almost all of them are old forms of domestic animals that no longer stand a chance in today's industrial agriculture and are therefore threatened with disappearing. The focus is on sheep breeds: The round ranks range from Heidschnucke, Meißner rams, Moorschnucke and Ouessant sheep to Rhön sheep, Skudde and Soay sheep - also here old breeds, namely Aylesbury and Pomeranian ducks. The chicken population is also mixed, the rooster can choose among its hens from Sachsenhuhn, Sundheimer and large meat breeds. Various underwater habitats have been reproduced in several tanks in the aquarium. In addition to fish, the ecological garden holds most of the native newts and frogs (thread, mountain and pond newts, both types of toad, common toads and tree frogs, as well as reptiles such as pond turtles, Aesculapian snakes and blindworms. Tiger salamanders are also ´exotic´). Various types of small mammals live in the day and night animal house, especially mice and hamsters. In addition to chipmunks and harvest mice, steppe lemmings, prickly mice, American cactus mice and the turkey prickly mice, which may have already been exterminated in nature, are also kept. ´Vivarium´ is the name of the warm room for the exotic animals, here you will find reptiles (bearded dragon and ball python), insects and spiders. The greenhouse serves as a flight space for various ornamental birds, which also have outdoor aviaries available in the warm season. The dogs in the organic garden should not go unmentioned, a Border Collie and a Great Dane.
