The zoo especially shows the Moroccan fauna and other species of the Saharan dessert and is devided in to sections. In the Atlas Mountain section you meet animals like the Atlas Lion (an extinct subspecies, these animals shown though are those with the real genes), the Barbary Sheep and the Barary Macaque. In the Saharan section you meet animals like the Oryx and the Addax, as well as the ostrich. A forest section with Hippos and Chimpanzees. In each area you learn about the biodiversity of a specific habitat, not only through animals and plants, as well through touching, smelling and playgrounds.The zoo has a vivarum

The zoo has a children area 


History:

In 1969 it was decided to create a Zoological Park for the city of Rabat. The project included 52 Ha.

In 2012, the zoo was moved to present location covering 27 Ha

In 2023 a vivarium was added

After paying the entrance fee we walk accross the plaza. On theright side we find a zoological museum, showng the history of animals in Morocco. The following the building we meet the childrens area. The first animal we meet are is the Emu. a bit later then the Vivarum that especially shows local reptiles. Outsie again we se a house to the right for birthday parties and to the right an enclosure for tortoises. Aroun are aviaries for birds like macaws and cappucine monkeys. Back to the mainroad turning right we soon are at a roundabout. To the left we have aviaries for birds of prey and to the right aviaries for parots. Straight forward are greater maras. Behind them we find payground to the right. Behind the are breeding paddocks for barbary deer addax and scimitar oryx. To the right of the playgrounds are farm animals ike sheep, goat, shetland ponies, alpacas and dromedaries. Back to the main building in front of it we have an area for the Atlas Mountains. Here we find barbary macaque and aoudad. Following the encosure we enter the forest and wetland area. The first animal we meet are the barbary deer. The we enter a large aviary with birds like the crowned crane and the eremite ibis. Then we entered the monkey area with ruffed lemurs, chmpanzees and patas monkeys. The wild boar also lives in this area. Following the path we meet the cape buffalo and after the we follow the nile with pelicans, flamingos, hippos, nile crocodiles and Kafue lechwe. The last area are the aried areas of the Savannah and the desert. Here we meet the anubis baboon, hyenas and caracals. We also go along a huge savannah enclosure with antelopes and zebras. To the left we then have two aviaries, one for vultures the other for eagles. in this area we also meet mandrills and tigers. Next its time to look at elephants and girafs. The last few hundred meters shows us lions, ring-tailed lemurs, rhinos, addax, scimitar oryx and Arabian oryx
